More New Rods-with our logo and name…That’s right, Carolina Mountain Sports now has our “own” private label rod. CMS Appalachian Guide Series. The blank is turquoise green, wood and silver reel seat, and single foot guides….a very attractive rod. We have these in 8’ 4 wt, 8.5’ 5 wt., 9’ 4wt and 9’ 5wt. When it’s Springtime in the mountains…it can be cold “as all get out!” Just recently was a good example….I left Statesville in shirtsleeve weather. Two hours later I stepped out of my truck at about 3,500 feet elevation and it was 28 degrees with 30+ mph winds. Be prepared for much colder weather than you might otherwise anticipate.
Diamondback Flawless Rods…These rods have gotten great reviews. After casting several at the recent Fly Fishing Show, we can see why. They’re sharp looking rods and can really fling the line out there …Diamondbacks have routinely been considered to be on par with rods costing much more. The new Flawless is carrying on the tradition. They are 4 piece rods, attractive, and great performers …retailing for $250-299. (see the Fishing Deals)
Fly Tying Supplies expanded…As many of you realized at the Fly Fishing Show and from shopping with us, not only has our inventory of rods and accessories increased…so has our fly tying department. In fact, many customers tell us that we have the largest and most professionally stocked tying department in the region. And, if we don’t have it, we’re happy to try and order it for you. Here’s a quick look at some of the new tying materials: Swisher rubber hackle, Sculpin heads; Web Wing material; Ultra Thread 70 and 210 (great for spinning deer hair); Ultra Gel Spun, Kevlar Thread; Tiemco 2488 Hooks; Whiting Pro Grade dry fly saddles; loco foam; Montana fly hooks and legs….and more.
