Charlotte Fly Show…we thought it went quite well and a lot of folks seemed to agree.  Based on the info passed to exhibitors… we’ll be in the same location next year and again for a 3-day show…with Friday open until 8pm.   Thanks to everyone that stopped by our booth.

After Show Deals:  We’ve left some items marked down … still  bargains left…at least 20%...and some to 50%.  A sampling:  Winston WT rods,  Ross Evolution Reels,  Diamondback 8wt 4pc rod,  Korkers size 10 wading shoes,  miscellaneous premium fly lines,  Columbia shirts, Islander nets (nice…made in NY), Cortland Precision leaders, and more…

Delayed Harvest Trout Stocking…On March 1 & 2, the hatchery trucks roll!  For the catch & release folks this is the spring kickoff on the “Delayed Harvest” designated streams.   “Hatchery Supported” streams (catch and keep) don’t open for fishing until April.

Equinox Katahdin backpack…Do you want ultralight?...at a great price….this is it.  3,350 cu. in. …weighs 26 oz.  and cost only $110.  This is a sweet backpack for folks that want to “chop” pounds off the back and make the switch to ultralight.

Canoeing…Mar. 217pmhow to select, materials, choosing accessories, handling, loading, paddling

17oz 10’ x 10’ Tarp…You read it right…1lb 1 oz and 100 square feet of coverage.  These make a great ultralight shelter,  tarp over a hammock or just extra rain protection around the campfire.

Flint and Steel…We have routinely carried the magnesium flint and steel fire starters but we’ve also added a new one…it’s just flint and steel.  So, if you are shifting away from matches and lighters, try this.  Tip:  use cotton balls that are 100% cotton from the drug store.  Separate the fibers…throw a spark into it…and instant flame.

Guided Fishing Trips..special deals..  a guided trip/float trip for trout  at a better price?    Check with Jeff Payne or Marty Shaffner at tristateanglers.com for a Jan/Feb discount….and if you book now for a trip later in the year…you’ll also save some $$$.

Virginia Fly Fishing Festival Apr 21-21…not as big as the Charlotte show but it may be worth the drive to Waynesboro, VA up I-81 (3 hrs? from Statesville).  Held on the banks of the South River right in town.   Bob Clouser is scheduled and he’ll be offering casting lessons…also names familiar to readers of Fly Fish America like King Montgomery and Beau Beasley… check vaflyfishingfestival.org.   If there’s interest…we may carpool.
